I am a Forskarassistent in the department of Computing Science at Umeå University and I am part of the Distributed Systems group. I received both M.S., and Ph.D., degrees from the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). My undergraduate degree is in Systems Enginering from Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala.

Research Interests

I am interested in combining Software Engineering with Distributed Systems. My goal is to reduce human effort by building systems that automate key processes that contribute toward essential software qualities such as performance, scalability, and reliability. During the past years I have been working on techniques for building software that can modify its execution in order to achieve a desired quality of service. I have also been working on distributed mechanisms for resource management in Cloud infrastructures.

Supervision

I work with great students which I supervise together with Erik Elmroth.

I also have enjoyed supervising and working with Cristian Klein who is a Postdoctoral Researcher.

Teaching

Fall 2014 - (5DV147) Distributed Systems
Fall 2013 - (5DV147) Distributed Systems
Fall 2012 - (5DV020) Distributed Systems

There's also a long list of courses in which I was either the primary lecturer or teaching assistant. Both at UAB or at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. Unfortunately, those courses were either "pre-Internet" or sit behind a university Intranet ☹.
